Solution Dyed Nylon (SDN) carpet is a superior quality synthetic carpet that is ideal for use in the home and commercial premises. This particular type of carpet is durable and strong, yet it is a flexible fibre that is highly stain and soil resistant and colourfast – due to its treatment during manufacture. It is one of the leading fibres used in carpet production today.
The fibre itself is coloured with molten nylon polymer prior to the yarn being produced – this way the colour actually locks into the fibre, and is completely dispersed throughout the fibre. Solution Dyed Nylon carpets are much more resistant to fading from exposure to sunlight than other sorts of carpets. It is also tougher, and will stand up to some of the harsher cleaning products – without fading or bleaching your carpet.
Easy to clean (you can use harsher products)
Limited selection of colours
Some types of solution dyed nylon products suffer from low soil resistance
Can be costly
Maintaining Your Solution Dyed Carpets
The question of how to correctly maintain your new carpet can be frustrating. Luckily for you, at 0420 Carpet we know our stuff, and we’re happy to share some tips with you.
You should frequently vacuum your SDN product, at least twice a week. If you do happen to spill anything on it, the best thing to do is tend to it at once – otherwise stains can appear and can be difficult to remove.
Twice a year, your product will require some more intense maintenance – this typically takes the form of a deep steam clean.
In Case of Spills
In the unfortunate case that you do spill something on your product, use a recommended cleaning product, keeping in mind that SDN products can stand up to some of the tougher chemicals on the market. Take care to never rub or scrub the stain, as this can make it worse!
